Hey there—I’m Bernice, a Latina ceramic artist based in the Rio Grande Valley. Ethereal Alclayme is the alchemy of my roots, my creativity, and my intention—all spun into clay.

Our Philosophy

I believe slow moments deserve meaningful vessels. Each piece is handcrafted from start to finish—wedged, thrown, fired, and glazed in my home studio—with the intention of inviting presence and ritual into everyday life.

My Journey

Valley Roots

I grew up on my grandparents’ rancho, where afternoons were spent barefoot on sun-warmed rocks, chasing goats, and splashing in the mud. Each moment grounded me—connecting my spirit to the earth and teaching me to find beauty in what’s raw, simple, and imperfect.

First Spark

In high school, I was introduced to ceramics and immediately fell in love. My hands moved with a deep familiarity, like they had shaped earth before. A college pottery course transformed that curiosity into a passion. Clay became my way to reconnect with that childhood wonder—a grounding practice that not only brought me joy, but helped me navigate my own centeredness. I learned to listen to the clay’s needs: patience, presence, balance—and in turn, I learned the same for myself.

STEM to Studio

After graduating from university, I pursued a career in the STEM field. It was fulfilling in many ways, but something deeper kept calling me back to clay. While traveling for work, I took a local ceramics course, and with the encouragement of a mentor, I finally found the courage to leap.

Ethereal Alclayme Emerges

In 2024, I bought my pottery wheel, carved out a tiny studio corner in my home, and Ethereal Alclayme was born. Here, earth meets spirit—each piece a quiet offering of intention, beauty, and rooted creativity.
